This paper is concerned with a morphological-stylistic and archaeometric study of two small pottery statues, confiscated by the Cosenza Carabinieri Unit for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Anti-Counterfeiting (Calabria, Italy). The research aimed to establish the authenticity of the artworks and to verify a possible origin from the same workshop manufacturing, by providing indications about the textural features and raw materials used for their production. Un nuovo sacello da Gela: fasi di frequentazioni e ipotesi sulla destinazione del culto

L'articolo presenta un sacello suburbano lungo le pendici meridionali della collina dell'antica Gela, emerso a seguito delle indagini archeologiche condotte dalla Scrivente tra il 2001 e il 2002. Lo studio della stratigrafia archeologica e muraria ha permesso di identificarne le fasi di vita e il rapporto con le strutture sacre finitime. Vengono presentati anche i materiali rinvenuti, tra cui una stipe votiva, che consentono di avanzare delle riflessioni circa la destinazione del culto e il sistema delle pratiche rituali.

A new contextual analysis is proposed in order to reappraise the well known theatrical images from Lipari. In the wake of the researches made by L. Bernabò Brea and M. Cavalier, the clay masks of comic, satyric and tragic characters and figurines, on one hand, and the “theatrical” vases on the other were reputed to echo or to “illustrate” Greek plays, in the frame of a Dionysian cult. Lastly, A. The subject of the chapter is the study of all the materials collected in the so-called “stipe inside the pithos” found on the acropolis of Gela during the excavations conducted in the 1960s. The materials are examined and an interpretative hypothesis is advanced on the divinity to whom the offering is addressed
